Overview

A unique, 3-D teaching tool, this model is perfect for performing Leopold’s manoeuvres and for demonstrating palpation of the abdomen to determine foetal lie, presentation, and position. The Abdominal Palpation Model includes a foetus with movable arms and legs, firm buttocks, and a head with palpable anterior and posterior fontanelles. The foetal body flexes to allow demonstration of all presentations and positions. The foetus and included vinyl pelvis rest within the abdominal portion of the model. (Foetus model cannot be delivered through the pelvis model.) The abdomen, a padded cloth attached by Velcro to the base, makes it easy to visualise and change foetal positions. Comes with a gel pad that provides added cushion over the foetus for a more realistic feel, 12 movable gel packs to simulate amniotic fluid, and a practice guide with detailed suggestions on how to use the model. The Set also includes a carrying bag. Skin tone of model may vary.

The Abdominal Palpation Model includes a foetal model that flexes, facilitating all presentations and positions. The foetal model also features:

  • A weighted body
  • Movable limbs
  • Firm buttocks
  • A head with palpable anterior and posterior fontanelles

The foetal model and the included pelvis model rest within the abdominal portion of the Abdominal Palpation Model. The abdomen is a padded cloth attached by Velcro to the base, which allows for easy removal and replacement of the foetal model to visualise and change foetal positions.


The model set also includes:

  • A gel pad that creates a cushion over the foetal model and provides a realistic, lifelike feel
  • 12 movable blue gel packs to simulate amniotic fluid
  • A practice guide with suggestions for how to use the model
  • A convenient carrying case

The Abdominal Palpation Model measures 48 cm x 29 cm x 24 cm. NOTE: The foetus model cannot be delivered through the pelvis model.
