Penny Simkin's Road Map of Labor Interactive Display
Developed by childbirth educator, physical therapist, and Childbirth Graphics advisory board member Penny Simkin, this interactive display is a fun way to teach expectant parents about what to expect during labour. The road map depicts labour as a journey that begins with early labour and ends with birth. The journey includes three paths: a winding yellow brick road with twists, turns, and no fixed timeline; a longer, rougher detour for back pain that eventually rejoins the yellow brick road; and the epidural highway, representing the choice to have an epidural for pain relief. Each path ends joyfully with the baby’s birth. The road map includes illustrations of a variety of comfort measures to use as labour progresses. An ideal teaching tool for childbirth classes and a wonderful addition to birthing rooms. Interactive display includes a laminated, 76 cm x 58 cm chart and a detailed presentation guide.
