Overview

A deadly deception of fake prescription medications with lethal doses of the synthetic opioid fentanyl has become a leading killer of adults ages 18–45 in the United States. This 3-D display (25 cm x 34 cm x 18 cm) uses sculpted, realistic facsimiles of five prescription pills (front and back) to demonstrate that fake pills can look identical to real prescription medications but lead to overdose and death with just one pill. An accompanying, two-sided tent card (22 cm x 25 cm) explains how only 2 mg of fentanyl can be lethal and the importance of only taking prescription medications prescribed for you by a healthcare professional and obtained from a licensed pharmacy. Models in the framed 3-D display are secured behind plexiglass, and the display includes an easel back for easy tabletop display. In the United States, counterfeit prescription medications are a serious health threat. People looking to fuel their opioid addiction, get high, or experiment with drugs often turn to social media or other ways to contact drug dealers selling what appear to be authentic prescription medications. Many of these dealers, however, are actually selling fake pills containing lethal doses of fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid.


Featuring realistic, sculpted models of five commonly abused prescription pills secured behind plexiglass, this framed, 3-D display warns viewers that they cannot tell the difference between real and fake prescription medications simply by looking at them. Realistic pill models (pill fronts and backs) include facsimiles of the commonly abused attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) drug Adderall and the benzodiazepine Xanax commonly prescribed for anxiety disorders, as well as opioid drugs OxyContin, Percocet, and Vicodin. The 3-D display includes a built-in easel back allowing it to stand on any tabletop. Accompanying, two-sided tent card explains the dangers of deadly fentanyl overdose and urges viewers only to take prescription medications obtained through a licensed pharmacy and prescribed for them by a healthcare professional. The 3-D display measures 25 cm x 34 cm x 18 cm; tent card measures 22 cm x 25 cm.
