Made of soft, palpable material for greater realism, students can use these models to practise feeling for and measuring skin indurations to determine whether a patient is infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Beige and brown models feature variations in skin colour typically occurring around test sites. Each model depicts indurations of 5 mm, 10 mm, 15 mm, and no reaction. Accompanying instruction card explains that readings should be based on measurements of induration, not erythema. Each model is 8 cm x 17 cm x 3 cm.
